Receiving many nominations this month, this establishment always greets Parents and Babies, no matter how many with a welcome smile and helpful hand.  Bhatman, the kind owner, has even offered, if the group knows how many babies, mommies and strollers will be coming, to feel free to call and let him know personally and they will set up tables and chairs in an area for us as needed!  What a nice treat to arrive and be able to be seated, all together and taking into account the strollers need, thank you!

(Phone Number: (925) 933-5600)

The menu at LETTUCE offers a large variety of gourmet salads, sandwiches and soups.  Displaying bins of various greens, from Mixed Greens, Romaine, Butter Lettuce Mix and containers and containers of add options from fruits, nuts, boiled egg and dressings, each salad even comes with a piece of fresh Focaccia bread ranging between $8-$12 for the Create-Your-Own-Salad.  The inviting set up greets you as a personal person behind the counter makes your salad right before your eyes and can be accommodating to ‘give or take’ some of the ingredients for each salad.  With fun names and delicious ingredients like the VIP (butter lettuce, avocado, shrimp, cranberries, toasted pine nuts and gorgonzola cheese) and the SONOMA (Organic mixed green, tangerine orange, Hass avocado, bosc pear, mango, toasted pecan, goat cheese dressing) just to name two, it’s a healthy option for your lunchtime meal.

The sandwiches and soups are equally as enticing, from the SFO (Grilled chicken, avocado, tomato and alfalfa sprouts, Mayo & cheese (Acme Slab Bread) to the CAPRICE (Fresh mozzarella, tomato, red onion, balsamic drizzle, fresh basil (Acme Focaccia Bread), all would pair nicely with the Butternut Squash with Green Apple soup or the New England Corn Chowder, the options at LETTUCE are healthy, various and delicious!

Offering a healthy lunch and a welcome mat for parents and babies, LETTUCE justly deserves the Golden Binky Award for this month!

Award winner for September 2009:

Congratulations to the Silk Road, located at 1440 North Main St., Walnut Creek, for winning this month’s GOLDEN BINKY award.  The restaurant welcomed four moms and their strollers with a smile and quickly scrambled to accommodate their needs during the busy lunch hour.  Promptly three tables were pushed together so that all the strollers were conveniently situated around the Moms, drinks were taken and lunch was expeditiously provided.  Not only was the food delicious and the service was outstanding (their hummus is amazing as well as their flatbread!), but for an extremely filling lunch by utilizing their $10.00 lunch menu, even the bill amount was a bonus.  Recognizing the time sensitivity with four babies, the restaurant servers continued throughout the meal to meet each Mom’s needs, from providing a vegetable in place of flatbread due to a baby’s and Mom’s allergies to the quick boxing of leftovers for a speedy departure, this restaurant greatly exceeded our expectations and justly deserves the Sept. GOLDEN BINKY award.
